Greetings sent to Lebanon

Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani sent a cable of greetings to Lebanon’s Prime Minister Tammam Salam on the occasion of his country’s national day. The Deputy Emir H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani and the Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani sent similar cables to Lebanon’s prime minister on the same occasion.

Minister opens Qatar pavilion at Expo Milano

Milan: The Minister of Economy and Commerce H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani yesterday inaugurated Qatar’s pavilion at Expo Milano 2015.
The Minister noted that Qatar participates along 140 countries and will look to share its view on issues such as food security and measures that the international community must take to provide food needs across the globe.  
He said that Qatar will stress its unconditional support to the right to nutrition and clean water during its participation in the event.  Qatar will look to present its experience in the field of food security. The country will also share its ideas with other participants to serve the rest of humanity and the international community.
The Minister added that the strong political and economic ties with Italy were one of the reasons behind participating. He highlighted the strong trade relations in particular, with trade volume reaching ¤3bn in 2013.
As for the Qatari economy, the Minister said that Qatar has maintained a strong growth of 6.8 percent despite the global economic slowdown. The financial and construction sectors in particular are booming, recording a growth rate of 11 percent.
