ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is likely to consult with senior leaders of parliamentary parties about handling Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) show of agitational strength in Islamabad on November 30.
“We are constantly in touch with the parliamentary heads on various key issues,” a cabinet member has told The News daily. “We will certainly discuss with them the strategy on how to deal with the PTI show in a lawful manner.”
Sharif will have sessions with the top leaders of Asif Zardari’s Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Sirajul Haq’s Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Fazlur Rehman’s Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI), Asfandyar Wali’s Awami National Party (ANP), Hasil Bizenjo’s National Party (NP), Mahmood Achakzai’s Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PMAP), and others. All of them share the government’s view that the public activity should be peaceful and should not disturb normal life.
The source said that the government’s decision about the November 30 public meeting was clear: the PTI is welcome to organise its show while remaining within confines of the law; any violence will not be tolerated.
He said that terms of conditions that the PTI would follow while holding its rally would be finalised in consultation with it. They will be in black and white and circulated publicly so that there is no ambiguity about them, he said.
