GE presents software solutions for energy sector

Published: 23 Nov 2015 - 12:00 am | Last Updated: 14 Nov 2021 - 09:58 pm

DOHA: GE Power is providing transformative software service solutions for industrial plants in the energy sector through its partnerships with RasGas in Qatar and Engro, Sapphire and Saif in Pakistan.
The industrial Internet solutions by GE are powered by Predix, the world’s first and only cloud-based operating system built exclusively for industrial assets, that bring unprecedented levels of productivity, efficiency and asset optimisation.
Azeez Mohammed, President & CEO, Power Services - Middle East, North Africa, Sub-Sahara Africa, GE Power, said: “GE’s Industrial Internet is a game changer for the energy sector, enabling our partners in the region to optimise their assets for greater reliability, efficiency and productivity. This in turn helps to meet the growing demand for power. GE’s solutions bring higher power output at lower cost through improved efficiency across the energy spectrum — from power generation to power distribution to power users. The focus on predictive maintenance to avoid problems before they happen and the ability to drive performance improvement support our partners in achieving higher returns and long-term value for their assets.”
Among the major partnerships is the first global deployment of GE’s APM solutions by RasGas, one of the world’s largest producers of LNG in Qatar. Created specifically to meet the needs of the LNG sector, the Predix Cloud solution is projected to extend the life of RasGas assets. It will also lower operating costs through greater efficiencies and optimise product chain across assets.
Marking the effective integration of big data and advanced analytics, the path-breaking solution will support process optimisation across RasGas operations. It will capture and analyse the unique volume, velocity and variety of machine data within a highly secure, industrial-strength cloud environment, leading to higher reliability in operation and optimising resource use efficiency. Serving as a one-stop optimised solution, it benefits the LNG sector in scaling up its efficiencies and productivity to meet the future growth goals of RasGas.
In Pakistan, GE Power has announced three new significant contracts. The first is with Engro Powergen Qadirpur Limited, a 217 MW independent power project and the only green facility of its kind in the country, to provide Industrial Internet solutions that will enhance operational performance and power plant reliability.
