Doha: Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has launched an awareness campaign under the theme of “your commitment makes a difference” to make customers aware of Conservation law No. 26.
Kahramaa said in a press statement that the move is to promote the culture of conservation and optimal use of electricity and water to achieve sustainable environmental development, which is one of the four pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030. Kahramaa, represented by Conservation and Energy Efficiency Department, aims to educate customers on violations that bring fines as per the law. It is also meant to establish the principles provided for in the law.
The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness about the value of reducing consumption and achieving the optimal use of resources. It also highlights the negative impacts of unreasonable consumption.
The campaign stresses Kahramaa’s commitment to provide technical advice for customers to raise their awareness of water and energy efficiency. It will also educate people of Conservation Law No. 26, warn against violations and fines, and procedures taken in case of violations.
The most noticeable frequent violations are using potable water for washing cars or cleaning building yards by a hose or any other flushing tools, not repairing damaged, broken or leaking parts of an internal water network (taps, pipes etc) and leaving outdoor lights on from 7am to 4.30pm. QNA
