Vodafone Qatar celebrated Qatar National Day this year with five Qatari schools through a creative arts competition, ‘Qatar National Day Through My Eyes’.
Students, both boys and girls, from five Qatari schools participated in the competition, which was coordinated by Vodafone’s Qatari Women’s Community Sales Team, ‘Al Johara’.
The 2012 ‘Qatar National Day Through My Eyes’ competition was organised by Entesar Al Ajii accompanied by her fellow Johara colleagues. The competition required students to create works of art, including models, paintings and photography, that represented what Qatar National Day meant to them. The five schools that participated in the competition were Al Shayma Independent High School for girls, The Gulf Independent Primary School for boys, Royal International School, Al Abib Independent Primary School for girls, and Al Bayan Independent High School for girls.
The entries were judged by a committee from the participating schools and Vodafone. The best works, from each of the five participating schools, were announced at the schools’ Qatar National Days Celebrations.
The winners were:
1) Amna Khan from Al Bayan Independent High School for girls
2) Lulwa Khan from Al Abib Independent Primary School for girls
3) Sandy from Royal International School
4) Abu Baker Mohammed from The Gulf Independent Primary School for boys
5) Hissa Al Hail from Al Shayma Independent High School for girls
“This is the third year Vodafone has run this competition in schools, aiming to enhance the feelings of national pride amongst students and allowing them to express what Qatar National Day means to them. Vodafone really enjoys being a part of the National Day celebrations and we are very proud to support the students as they demonstrate how they feel about Qatar and its heritage and we are always extremely impressed by the innovation and quality of their work,” said Susie Kelt, Head of Al Johara, Vodafone Qatar.
