DOHA: Al Jazeera Mubasher Misr (AJMM), broadcasting live from Egypt, has temporarily ceased service, the channel said yesterday.
The channel will resume operation when the necessary permits are issued by Egyptian authorities for its return to Cairo.
Meanwhile, Al Jazeera Media Network said that it is launching a new Arabic-language TV service based on the successful experience of Al Jazeera Mubasher (AJM) and AJMM.
The new service, named Al Jazeera Mubasher Al-‘Amma (General) is set to coalesce both experiments into one. It will be broadcast on the frequencies of both AJM and AJMM.
It will report live on events all over the globe simultaneously with round-the-clock analysis. The output will rely much on viewer suggestions rather than the traditional pattern of a fixed transmission grid, said the network.
