A proposed legislation in Nepal threatens to make millions stateless, thanks to a provision in the draft constitution that will make it near impossible for Nepalese women to pass on citizenship to their children. As Nepal’s constituent assembly prepares to write the country’s new constitution by early 2015, a draft citizenship bill, that awaits discussion, has triggered a campaign demanding amendments to what activists and victims call discriminatory provisions.
