Kuwait: Qatar chaired the 34th meeting of undersecretaries responsible for environmental affairs in the GCC yesterday in Kuwait.
It prepared for a meeting of the ministers responsible for the environment in the GCC states, to be held on Thursday.
During the meeting chaired by Ahmed Mohamed Al Sada, Undersecretary, Environmental Affairs, at the Ministry of Environment, participants reviewed cooperation among the GCC states and with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Regional Office for West Asia, the Regional Organization for the Protection of the Marine Environment and the World Bank, as well as environmental cooperation with Turkey, Jordan and Morocco.
The meeting also followed up on progress in implementation of the GCC environmental monitoring centre, GCC Award for environment and wildlife, GCC environmental portal project, GCC network for the study of land degradation and the Award of Sultan Qaboos for Human Affairs and Environmental Sector.
