DOHA: The Ministry of Labour has set up a committee to follow up the jobs-nationalisation (Qatarisation) programme in the private sector.

The committee also aims to develop contacts with private companies to fill job quotas for Qatari citizens and train them to take up jobs in the private sector, Al Sharq reported yesterday.

H E Husain Al Mulla, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour, has been appointed as the chairman of the committee and Mohammad Ubaydali, Director of Legal Affairs Department, Mohammad Sad Al Muraikhi, Director of National Workforces Department and Fawaz Al Rais, Director of the Recruitment Department, have been appointed as members of the panel.

The committee will also hold meetings with private institutions and companies to ensure how much they are complying with the jobs-nationalisation programme approved by the Cabinet.

The Cabinet has fixed 20 percent job quotas in the private sector for citizens and non-specialisation jobs have also been Qatarised. The committee will also study job opportunities in the private sector in a bid to train national cadres for these posts and scholarship opportunities to send Qatari graduates abroad to pursue higher studies.
