Doha: RasGas Company Limited is on a major talent hunting in the UK for young Qatari engineers aspiring to make a career in the energy sector.
The company has been engaged in recruitment-related activities during the last few days. It participated in the 7th Annual Career Fair for Qatari students in London on February 21-22. Established in 2007, the fair has attracted scores of Qatari students over the years.
Over 1,000 Qatari students are enrolled in university programmes in the UK, including 54 RasGas-sponsored scholars and 13 RasGas employees undergoing specific courses.
The fair provided RasGas with a platform to introduce students to career opportunities, scholarships and internship programmes provided by RasGas.
“RasGas is delighted to take part in the fair for the seventh consecutive year. It provides us with an opportunity to not only connect with Qatari students abroad but also attract the highest calibre of engineering graduates for scholarships at RasGas.
“We also utilised the fair to showcase the quality of our current students by inviting them to make presentations,” said Erhama Al Kaabi, RasGas Chief Employee Development and Welfare Officer.
“Our recruitment programme is a testament to our commitment to support Qatar’s national development strategy with emphasis on nurturing and supporting national talent, as set out in Qatar National Vision 2030.
“We also visited universities to meet our students and their academic advisers to foster a partnership with students, universities and RasGas. The visits provided RasGas with the opportunity to not only measure student progress but also network and discuss further programme improvement initiatives,” he said.
RasGas was one of the first Qatari companies to participate in the fair and has since recruited many Qatari overseas students. Committed to a long-term quality Qatarisation programme, RasGas has over 35 percent of Qataris in its workforce, and is looking to raise it to about half by 2022.
