The public hygiene department at the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning removed 220 tonnes of sand from the Ras Laffan highway, accumulated after the strong dust winds that hit the country over the past three days. The heaps of sand led to complete closure of the highway, the ministry said yesterday. The ministry also removed around 12 tonnes of sand from Al Thakhira road.
