Over 500 brands on display at jewellery expo

DOHA: Over 500 brands from 25 countries are participating at the 12th Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE) which opened yesterday at the Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC).
Minister of Economy and Commerce H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed Al Thani officially launched the exhibition in the presence of Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) Chairman Issa Bin Mohammed Al Mohannadi and Qatar Development Bank CEO Abdulaziz bin Nasser Al Khalifa.
Under the patronage of Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, the expo is open from 12 noon to 10 pm until Saturday. On Friday it is open from 4pm to 10pm.
Hosted by Qatar Tourism Authority, q.media Events and Fira Barcelona, the five-day exhibition features an impressive collection of jewellery and timepieces from the most renowned local and international brands.
The participating brands are housed in 35 pavilions providing visitors an impressive visual journey into the craftsmanship and creativity behind centuries of jewellery and watch making.
Hamad Al Abdan, Director of Exhibitions, Qatar Tourism Authority, said: “The Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition attracts a growing number of exhibitors, brands, and visitors year after year to become one of the most anticipated luxury events in the region. We are proud to see international and local brands in the field competing against each other to be present at the show, as we’re exerting every effort to improve the show year after another to make it a landmark event in the calendar of luxury events in the region.”
“QTA is pinning significant hopes on the event’s success especially that we’re seeing exclusive pieces launched exclusively during the event and people from across the region awaiting to come and buy luxury sets and creations,” added Al Abdan.
Among the brands which will unveil their unique creations is Roland Iten which will debut a limited edition series of “Qatar dedicated” calibration cufflinks for watch lovers, adorned with diamonds depicting the Qatari flag. Montegrappa, famous Italian manufacturer of high end writing instruments, will launch a collection of Kahlil Gibran, in honor of the world renowned writer.
This year’s edition includes new facilities and features such as online registration, shuttle bus service to the main entrance, valet parking for VIPs, VIP lounges and golf carts to tour the venue.
The Peninsula
