DOHA: Former Qatari ambassador to Russia, Ahmed S Al Midhadi was recently decorated with the Order of Excellence in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
The ceremony was held at the residence of Russian Ambassador Nurmakhmad Kholov attended by H E Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Mutib Al Rumaihi, Assitant Minister of Foreign Affairs; H E Ibrahim Yousef Abdullah Fakhro, director of the Department of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Russian diplomats and employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar.
Ambassador Kholov lauded Al Midhadi, who served as Qatar’s Ambassador in Moscow from 2009 to 2014 for accomplishing his duty with dignity and honour and contributing greatly to the development of bilateral relations in various fields.
“There is no doubt that he made an invaluable and priceless contribution to the intensification of the mutually beneficial cooperation between our fraternal countries. And we know that all great Russia knows Al Midhadi, loves him and all his Russian friends send their best regards,” he said.
“This Order is usually given to the most efficient foreign ambassadors who served in Russia and this is the recognition of his sustained efforts in the field of strengthening Russian-Qatari relations.”
Thanking Russian Ambassador, Al Midhadi said he considers his decoration with the Order not only as a respect to him personally but also as a recognition of the excellent stance of the flourishing Russian-Qatari relations and that he was very happy to learn that the bilateral cooperation was developing and progressing further day by day.
Al Midhadi appreciated the efforts of Kholov in intensifying the Russian-Qatari relations highlighting that their achievement was the successful visit of the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Sochi on February 5, 2014 and his negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Al Midhadi stressed that it was a friendly and important meeting that crowned his work as ambassador in Moscow. He also expressed his gratitude to Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov for his attention and hospitality and the Russian leadership for its strengthening cooperation with Qatar.
Al Rumaihi thanked Kholov for his efforts in the intensification of the bilateral cooperation in various fields, taking into consideration his preparations for the upcoming Joint Russo-Qatari Inter-Governmental Commission.
