Doha: The Alumni Association at the Doha Institute (DI) has formed the first Alumni Board of Directors and launched the association’s charter and by-laws developed to organise and govern the activities of the Alumni Association and its board of directors.

The association has 1,040  members. The Alumni Affairs Office selected five members from DI Alumni by acclamation to lead the association in the first session, which will last for two consecutive years, per the association charter.

Dr. Essa Al Hor, a graduate of the Executive Master’s Program in Public Administration, is the Chairman of the association’s Board of Directors and is supported by board members: Mohammed Al Kaabi, a graduate of the Clinical Psychology Program. Najla Al Jabir, a graduate of the Public Policy Program. Shada Salhab, a graduate of the Media and Cultural Studies Program, and Zakaria El Hagar, a graduate of the History program.

Dr. Ibrahim Fraihat, Dean of Student Affairs at the DI, stated that the announcement of the Alumni Association comes in the context of DI’s keenness to build a strong and close relationship with its graduates. Dr. Ibrahim indicated that the association’s establishment comes within the vision of DI in following up with the graduates and monitoring their achievements and successes after graduating from DI in various academic and practical fields.

Nada Almisshal, the Alumni Affairs Officer, said that the association is a platform for effective communication between graduates, students, and the institute community. She added that the tasks entrusted to the Board of Directors of the Association are summarised in representing the graduates at the institute, in alumni councils and forums in other universities, and organising activities and events for the Alumni to enhance communication.

From his side, Dr. Al Hor stated: “We are working towards building a relationship between the Institute and its graduates on the one hand, and between the graduates and their colleagues on the other hand, in a relationship where knowledge and experience are integrated under the umbrella of the Alumni Association, which enhances the sustainability of knowledge.”
