MoI department launches website on surveillance systems, cameras

DOHA: The Security Systems Department (SSD) of the Ministry of Interior (MoI)launched its website (http://www.moi.gov.qa/site/arabic/departments/scd/index.html) on Thursday which provides information and assistance related to  security cameras and surveillance systems.

The Director General of Public Security (DGPS) Staff Major General Saad bin Jassim Al Khulaifi launched the website at a function held at the headquarters of DGPS. The SSD Director Captain Jassim Abdul Raheem Yosuf  Al Sayed and other Ministry officers attended the event.

Al Khulaifi emphasised the role of security cameras and surveillance systems in maintaining peace and security.  He noted that many complicated cases have been resolved in some countries by the help of security cameras. 

Captain Jassim Al Sayed gave a presentation on the website  and its services. He said that this electronic window will provide help and assistance to all parties concerned with security cameras and surveillance systems.

“This website that was launched today is an extension of the efforts pursued by the department since its inception to create channels of communication with the targeted sectors, beginning with introductory lectures, coordination meetings, as well as through direct telephone lines”, he said.

The SSD was established in August 2011 to implement the law on regulation of security surveillance systems and cameras in all places in the country and state enterprises.  Its functions include deciding the locations, numbers and points for installation of security surveillance devices and cameras in public places in the country as well as in state enterprises. 

The department also will specify the technical specifications for cameras and security surveillance devices and identify facilities and places that must be linked to the National Command Centre). 

The department provides a number of services such as permit certificate and compliance certificate for security surveillance devices and systems after verification of its compliance with required specifications. 

The department also prepares and decides on tenders for implementation project of cameras and security surveillance devices in public places in the country. It  is entitled to grant licences for companies that work in the field of installing and maintaining cameras and security surveillance devices, in coordination with other the concerned authorities. 

Clients can download different types of forms for services such as Company Registration and Commercial Activity Addition Form, Security Surveillance System Design Approval Form, Inspection and Approve Security Surveillance System Form, Custom Shipment Clearance of Camera and CCTV Devices Form, Addition of Technical staff Form, Addition Of Product Form.
