Doha: Ahmed Ben Hilli, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Arab League, has said the representation of the Syrian opposition to the Arab Summit to open in Doha on Tuesday is under discussion at the Arab foreign ministers’ preparatory meeting for the summit.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting of the permanent representatives and senior officials of Arab League members which opened here yesterday, Ben Hilli said, “Consultations are on among Arab leaders and officials over representation of the Syrian opposition to the summit.”
Elaborating, he said that the meeting of the permanent representatives and senior officials of member countries of the Arab League has not dealt with such a topic. “They agreed to refer the issue to the Arab ministerial meeting tomorrow and the matter will be decided tomorrow”, Ben Hilli told reporters.
The meeting of the permanent representatives and senior officials of member countries of the Arab League concluded here yesterday and it will prepare for the foreign ministers’ preparatory meeting to the 24th regular session of the Arab summit to open in Doha on Tuesday.
