Mexican writer Elena Poniatowska walks flanked by Spain’s King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia, after receiving the Cervantes Award 2014 at Alcala de Henares University, on the outskirts of Madrid, yesterday. The Cervantes Prize is awarded annually to honour the lifetime achievement of an outstanding writer in the Spanish language.
