Doha: The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) has released a new edition of its Qatar Sport magazine, the official QOC publication.
This issue includes a number of stories, interviews, news and reports.
Issue 25 of Qatar Sport reports on the Winter Olympic Games, Sochi 2014 in an article titled The Stars Come Out in Sochi shedding light on a number of stars who shined during these Games by setting various records.
In another report, the Magazine proceeds to a comprehensive review of the participating teams in the FIFA World Cup, Brazil 2014, due to start in June, weighing the chances of the main favourites to win this most popular sport event.
In the ‘Leaders’ section, Dr.Hassan Al Ansari, the Qatar Paralympic Committee Secretary General comments on ‘why is it important to build the profile of Paralympic sport ad how do you do it?’ while the World Champion hurdler, Colin Jackson mentions a few ideas and way by which former successful athletes could also succeed in the sport business field.
The rubric ‘Fit for Life’ analysed the new trend of seeking the assistance of a fitness coach to help us keep fit, and provide a few pieces of advice on the way to choose such a coach and the role he/she might play in keeping us fit and healthy.
The magazine also features an article on board sports whether on wheels, water or snow, explaining their development and the differences between each of them.
Locally, the issue focuses on the celebration of the National Sport Day, in its third edition which featured an even stronger participation of various categories of society.
Tens of thousands came to the different locations especially landscaped for the event, and in particular, the QOC village which entertained visitors for one week culminating on February 11, 2014 with the National Sport Day.
Issue 25 also covered the finals of the Schools Olympic Program, staged this year under the theme ‘Sport and Integrity’ with a special focus on the Special Day reserved for disabled athletes and aimed at providing opportunities to all categories of the community.
The issue highlights the role played by the QOC in the Sport Accord Conference which took place in Antalya, Turkey, where its representatives intensified their efforts in order to strengthen the position of Qatar in the world sport arena.
This is in addition to various permanent rubrics such as the latest brief news, the next three month sport events agenda, or the ‘In Focus’ rubric with the best photos and briefs on the main past and coming events in Qatar, the region and the world.
