Doha: A flydubai Boeing 737-800 aircraft leaving Kathmandu to Dubai experienced a bird strike during takeoff, reported AlArabiya.
A spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal said that an engine had caught fire on the flydubai aircraft with 167 passengers on board shortly after takeoff from Kathmandu. The fire however had been brought under control.
Aviation analyst Alex Macheras also confirmed that flight FZ576 had experienced engine issues that included “a fire shortly after take-off from Kathmandu.”
Macheras said that the flight however was cruising as normal and en route to Dubai.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal also stated that the flydubai airline was also normal and en route to Dubai as per the flight plan, expected to land there at 00:14 local time.
