Ramallah:  Palestinian Center for Prisoners Studies (PCPS) has said that a group of hunger-striking Palestinian inmates held in isolation in Beersheba prison were transferred to Soroka Hospital after complained of acute stomach pain due to tainted drinking water.
PCPS quoted lawyer Rami Al Alamb as saying that a doctor at the hospital had determined that the cause was tainted water, adding the group should only drink mineral water, a request which was denied by the Israeli prison administration.
They opted to give them water with two spoons of salt a cup, which deteriorated their health. They remain at the hospital, he added.
PCPS spokeswoman Amina Al Tawil said the prisoners had threatened to stop taking water, and stressed that they will continue their strike.
