Doha: Loyola International School (LIS) organised the Investiture Ceremony for the current academic year in the school premises.

The school council system which is formed every year is a significant platform for the students to hone their leadership skills. It is one such opportunity provided by the school that goes beyond regular teaching and learning and promote holistic development of children.

Leadership titles and responsibilities were conferred on the selected students from grades 5 to 10 who have been appointed to different positions through a laid-out election process conducted in the school. The school ceremonially honoured all these elected members of the school students’ council, namely the Head Boy, Head Girl, Discipline Captains, Sports Captains, Prefects, House Captains, Vice-Captains and the Media Team.

The school has established four houses — Ruby, Diamond, Sapphire and Emerald, each of which represents different motto, values contributing to the overall school motto of 'Listen, Learn and Lead'.

The event was graced by Vinod Nair, President - Indian Community Benevolent Forum, Qatar who was the chief guest for the event. Apart from that one of the directors of Loyola International School, Sarat Koduru, along with the Principal, Pramod Kumar Ranwaka were also present to encourage the students and do the honours of conferring upon the titles to the budding leaders.

The Students’ Council had a grand display of pride and honour as they marched to the coordinated drumbeats and marched up the stage to proudly wear their badges, sashes and hold on the school and the house flags.

The newly elected student council members further pledged to work earnestly and uphold the honour and glory of the institution. Head Boy and the Head Girl accepted the honours gracefully and expressed their gratitude along with their vision for the school in their inspiring words.

The event was organised under the supervision of the Activity Coordinator Sheeba Angela who worked tirelessly to bring it to a grand success. Fatimath Sheza and Anirudra Dahal (Former Head Boy and Head Girl) compered the entire event. Nandini of grade 9 delivered the vote of thanks and the programme concluded with the National Anthems of Qatar and India.

The ceremony was attended by other students, and the parents of the elected members who were very pleased with the proceedings. Their presence was very motivating for the young leaders who vowed to fulfil their promises through positive actions to take LIS to new heights.
