Doha, Qatar: The Muscat Governorate recently inaugurated the tallest flagpole in the country, a 126-metre-high steel structure at Al Khuwair Square, which is a 12,000 sq metre sustainable public facility, reported the Oman News Agency.
Equivalent to 40-storey building, the flag pole is constructed using 141 tonnes of steel, with the outer diameter of the pole measuring 2,800mm at base and 900mm at its highest point. It is topped by an Omani flag measuring 25 metres long and 44 metres wide.
According to several media reports, the structure is said to be the highest man-made feature in the country and will feature a red warning light for aircrafts.
The Oman News Agency reported that the Al Khuwair Square is a recreational outdoor facility that includes more than 9,000 sq metres of green spaces along with dedicated walking and cycling paths.
