French president tours Museum of Islamic Art

Doha: The French President, Francois Hollande, First Lady Valerie-Trierweiler and their delegation visited the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) yesterday.

Hollande toured the museum and viewed its contents, including  jewellery and other artefacts. 

He also signed the visitor’s book, expressing admiration for the museum’s collections that display the Islamic culture and heritage.

The management of the museum presented him with a book that provides an overview of the contents of the museum. 

The Minister of Energy and Industry H E Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, the Ambassador of Qatar to Paris, Mohammad Jaham Abdul Aziz Al Kuwari, and the French Ambassador in Doha, Jean-Christophe Possel, accompanied the French president and his delegation.

The French president also praised friendly relations between France and Qatar. 

He said France is ready to strengthen cooperation with Qatar in all fields, including political, economic and defence.

He highlighed cultural links between both countries, pointing out Qatar’s accession to the International Organization of La Francophonie. 

He said his visit was also an opportunity to boost partnership between both countries.
