Doha: After the curtains were closed on the fifth edition of Hya Abaya exhibition, the Middle East’s largest Abaya expo, Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) held an appreciation ceremony for all who worked on the success of this exhibition.

The ceremony was attended by QTA Chairman Issa bin Mohammed Al Mohannadi and QTA’s delegates.

Recognised as one of Qatar’s most fashionable and not-to-be-missed events, the Hya Abaya exhibition was organised by QTA and showcased the region’s finest fashion in Abayas.

This year, QTA has given 30 percent off for all Qatari exhibitors who have participated in this edition. The fifth edition of the Hya Abaya has featured a number of exhibitors who showcased the latest designs and trends for abayas, kaftans and evening gowns from Qatar and the GCC countries designers, as part of the first exhibition of its kind in the region. While many associate these wonderful garments with the colour black, they are also personal expressions of creativity and individuality.

The organisers promised that during the next editions more fashion shows will be organised, as the fashion show which ran during the first day of the exhibition, witnessed tremendous success.

“The fifth edition of this spectacular exhibition has witness dazzling success, and it witnessed impressive presence of Qatari female designers, who presented designs that dazzled the visitors,” said QTA’s Director of Exhibition Center, Hamad Al Abdan. The huge number in visitors, which exceeded the 67,500, is an evidence of QTA success in organising events in large scale.

QTA is working on Hya Abaya next editions in collaboration with the private companies to elevate this exhibition to become one of its kinds in the region, and to be a yearly fashion event that runs for a whole week.

QTA is in the process of launching its “MICE” strategy, which aligns with the national tourism strategy 2030, while the new exhibition centre is expected to be inaugurated next year. QTA has also issued licenses to over 300 events and exhibition companies during the past two years which shows the development in the industry. The Peninsula
