Minister of State for Energy Affairs offers condolences on tragic loss of Indians in Barzan gas facility incident

Doha, Qatar: HE Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs, the President and CEO of QatarEnergy, visited the Embassy of the Republic of India in Doha to offer condolences on the tragic loss of 12 Indian nationals in the incident in the Barzan gas supply facility in Ras Laffan.

His Excellency Minister Al-Kaabi met HE Vipul, the Ambassador of India and conveyed his personal and heartfelt condolences as well as those of everyone in the State of Qatar’s energy sector to the Ambassador, the Government, and the people of India.

Expressing solidarity with the people of India, His Excellency said: “The loss of innocent lives is a tragedy that touches all of us. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives during this tragic incident. We pray for the speedy recovery for those who were injured.”

12 Indian nationals were among 13 people who lost their lives in the unfortunate explosion and fire, on Sunday 21 June 2026, at the Barzan local gas supply facility at Ras Laffan Industrial City. 66 people were also injured in the incident, none with life-threatening injuries.
