PESHAWAR: Investigating hundreds of cases of target killings, bombings, kidnappings for ransom and extortion on a daily basis, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police are yet to have a GSM or Global System for Mobile communications locater to work out.
A source at the Central Police Office, however, said that the provincial police are going to get the first GSM locater worth Rs70m in a few days to help investigators bust the gangs of kidnappers, car lifters and other criminals through the cellular-phone record. The source said the Punjab Police are having five GSM locaters while the Sindh Police have three such devices. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police are not having any single device so far despite the fact that innumerable people are being kidnapped and several are killed in targetted attacks and bombings almost every day. internews
