DOHA: Qatar Insurance Company, a leading provider of insurance services, recently  launched fully Automated Insurance Machines (AIMs) at some traffic departments to enable customers to get rid of long queues and insurance brokers.

QIC customers can also avail 10 percent discount on premium by using its all electronic services.

The AIMs, the first of its kind facility in Qatar, is one of the most advanced, and feature a touch screen with English and Arabic interface. They accept all credit cards, and are user-friendly, and customers can complete transactions in a few steps.

Through AIMs people can renew vehicle insurance (full or third party), apply for new third party insurance, get travel and home insurance, and pay premiums by using valid credit cards with Visa, MasterCard and NAPS facilities.

The official launch ceremony was held at the newly-opened Traffic Headquarters in Madina Khalifa (Khalifa City), in the presence of Brigadier Mohamed Saad Al Kharji, Traffic Department Director, and Khalifa Abdullah Turki Al Subaey, QIC Chief Executive Officer. Top officials from the department, Interior Ministry and QIC were also present. “In addition to all traffic departments, we have plans to install nearly 50 AIMs across the country at strategic locations such as airport, shopping malls and hypermarkets,” said Al Subaey.

“I extend our thanks to all people of the Traffic Department and the Interior Ministry, and special thanks to Brigadier Al Kharji for their cooperation and sincere efforts and keenness on saving the time and efforts of Traffic Department customers. We, at QIC, have the same desire towards our customers.”

Al Subaey presented Al Kharji with a cheque in support of the ministry. The amount was not disclosed.

Some of the traffic departments where AIM services can be availed are Al Ma’moura, Al Khor, Al Shamal, Al Zaeyn and Al Zubara. Other departments which will soon have AIMs are Al Rayan, Um Salal, Al Shahania, and Industrial Area.

The installation of AIMs at traffic departments is part of QIC policy to make its services accessible to its customers everywhere, and make insurance transactions easier to complete at any time and place. The Mall, Landmark, Al Mira (Airport/Onaiza/Zaghawa Road), General Post Office, and Family Food Center (Al Rayan and Al Merqab Street) are some of the places where QIC customers can access its services. “More AIMs are being installed at other places and will come into service soon,” said Al Subaey. QIC customers can avail same insurance services from the company website (www.qic-online.com) or through QIC service kiosks at some shopping malls. The company has recently launched a mobile app for Android /iphones, offering the same insurance services. The Peninsula
