1.4 million people affected by typhoon Trami in southeast China

BEIJING: The Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs has reported that the rainstorms triggered by Typhoon Trami swept the southeast coastal provinces of Fujian and Zhejiang, affecting about 1.4 million people and prompting 351,000 to relocate. 
 
The typhoon made landfall in Fujian's Fuqing City on Thursday morning and was downgraded into a tropical depression when in reached Jiangxi Province.
 
Chinese authorities said the downpours caused flooding in several counties in Fujian and Zhejiang, adding that houses and agricultural lands suffered considerable damage. 
 
The ministry also reported that the direct economic losses from the devastation caused by Trami has reached more than 1 billion yuan. (QNA)
