DOHA: Qatar Philatelic and Numismatic Club won five medals at World Stamp Exhibition (Thailand 2013) in Bangkok.
The Qatari delegation won two Large Vermeil medals for exhibits on Bahrain Postal History and Iraq in Occupation Era and three Vermeil medals for exhibits on Kuwait Postal History, Oman Postal History and Aden Postal History.
The delegation included the club’s Vice Chairman Hussain Rajab Al Ismail and board member Khalid Abdulla Al Hawli.
Sixty-six countries participated in the expo, considered one of the biggest in the world. Around 3,000 frames were showcased in the competitive categories.
The event was hosted by Thailand to celebrate the 130th anniversary of the first Thai postage stamps and postal service.
It was organised in support with Federation Internationale de Philatelie and Federation of Inter-Asian Philately.
