Doha: The Ministry of Economy and Commerce inspected stores in Old Airport area to monitor their commitment to laws and regulations governing commercial activities.
Inspectors fined eight outlets for violations, including conducting commercial activities not included in the licence and using expired commercial licences and part of the store for accommodation.
Inspectors also issued notices to correct their status. The surprise raids were part of the ministry’s efforts to control markets and commercial activities, punish  violators and disclose malpractices.
The ministry urged consumers to report any violations pertaining to commercial licences through email info@mec.gov.qa; Twitter: @MEC_Qatar; Instagram: MEC_Qatar and MEC mobile app for Android and IOS: MEC_Qatar
Consumers can also submit complaints through electronic systems installed in malls, which allows for direct contact with the ministry.
