Doha: The International School of London (ISL) Qatar will host the Alliance for International Education (AIE) Conference in Doha from 20-22 October 2012. The Conference is expected to draw approximately 400 educators from around the world to focus on Educational Futures: Innovations and Aspirations.

Amin Makarem, AIE Board Member and Managing Director of ISL Qatar, said: “The Alliance brings together educators who are committed to advancing international and intercultural understanding through education. It promotes collaborative ventures that enhance the learning of relevant concepts, skills and values. The conference theme was inspired by the location, Qatar, which is an ideal venue for the AIE conference due to the country’s significant efforts in transmitting values and vision for the future of education. We are also delighted that ISL Qatar is hosting this prestigious event in the year that International School of London celebrates its 40th anniversary.”

Following on the success of previous biennial Conferences in Geneva, Dusseldorf, Shanghai, Istanbul and Melbourne, each day will have plenary sessions, followed by in-depth analysis of specific themes in ten separate strand groups including leadership and management, pedagogy, curriculum, technology, local and global citizenship, community building, assessing intercultural competence, language and quality assurance as well as reporting on regional and global developments. Strand groups sessions are divided between presentations on the topic and debate amongst the strand team, leading to profound exchanges and evolution of the topics over the three days of discussion. Additionally, there will be student participation from many schools in Doha.
