Sidra appoints executive vice chief medical officer

DOHA: Sidra Medical and Research Center has appointed Dr Abdulla Mohd Essa Al Kaabi as Executive Vice Chief Medical Officer. The local paediatrics expert will join Sidra’s leadership team to help ensure best clinical and professional practices and an integrated healthcare approach in Qatar.

Dr Al Kaabi is Associate Professor of Clinical Paediatrics at Weill Cornel Medical College in Qatar (WCMC-Q) and will retain this role alongside his position in Sidra. He will assist Sidra’s Chief Medical Officer Dr Edward Ogata and other leaders to build medical staff and develop all aspects of Sidra’s programmes. 

“It is an honour and a privilege to join Sidra’s clinical team and work with renowned experts in the field like Dr Ogata. Sidra will be an elite academic medical centre that serves as a model for the region. I am proud to be part of that,” said Dr Al Kaabi. 

Prior to joining Sidra, Dr Al Kaabi was a senior consultant and chief of Paediatric Nephrology in Hamad General Hospital. 

He was also the deputy chairman of Paediatrics in Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and a member of HMC’s Paediatric Executive Committee. Dr Al Kaabi has a long-term record in inter-organisational communications and cooperation, having worked with the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto, Canada, WCMC-Q and HMC.
