Doha: Counting down the days before the official opening of the second edition of Qatar International Boat Show (QIBS) in November, organisers have confirmed that many top names in the maritime industry will be present at the show.
Four shipyards will exhibit for the first time at QIBS 2014 — Palmer Johnson from the US, Blohm and Voss from Germany, Esen Yacht from Turkey and Grupo per Mare Amer Yachts from Italy, who will also exhibit one of the largest yachts — at 92-foot in length.
Many exhibitors who took part in the first edition are returning once again, including Sunseeker, Azimut and SeaRay represented by Seas&Deserts, Cranchi represented by MG International, Majesty Yachts represented by Aurora, Princess Yachts represented by Chelab Marine, Benetti a brand of Azimut Benneti Group, Lagoon represented by Tan Services, Ferreti Group whose brands include Ferreti represented by Ventura Yachts, Riva and Itama represented by Art Marine, Cigarette 1 represented by Performance Marine, Quicksilver and Rinker Boats represented by Alfardan Marine Services and Sunreef Yachts. Nakilat Damen Shipyard, Qatar, will also attend. It is the only superyacht builder in Qatar — a joint venture of Nakilat and Damen.
Prestige Yachts will launch its dealership in Qatar with Gulf Yachts that will also represent Everglades boats.
Lagoon catamarans represented by Tan Services, Hydrasports Custom represented by Plantation Boats and Ventus lounge boats, will also exhibit for the first time.
Faysal Mikati, Vice-President,  QIBS organisers, Snow Comms, said the line-up of exhibitors is like a Who’s Who in the maritime industry.
“We are still getting enquiries from other potential exhibitors for the show; and it seems news of the success of the first edition of QIBS last year has filtered through the international boating community and it’s as if the whole of the industry is making a beeline for Qatar. We have very high expectations for this year’s edition.”
The show will be open daily from 3.00pm to 9.30pm from November 11 to 15 at Mourjan Marinas – Lusail City.
