DOHA: To help avoid long queues at slaughterhouses during Eid Al Adha, the Qatar Meat and Livestock Company, Mawashi, will be operating 11 slaughterhouses (Five at the Central Market, one each in Al Rayyan, Al Muitheir, Al Shamal, and Al Khor and two big abattoirs at the Central Market for camel).
Mawashi has a stock of 75,000 sheep to meet the demand for the festival. Expecting more demand for sheep this year, the company has imported stocks from Turkey, Georgia, Iran, Jordan, Armenia, Saudi Arabia and Australia. Jamil Imran, Sales and Marketing Manager of Mawashi, said the company has started selling Syrian sheep from yesterday. The price of the Syrian sheep is less compared to the other outlets.
