Cabinet reviews draft law on real estate

Doha: The Cabinet yesterday took measures to issue a draft law regulating the real estate development following recommendations by the Advisory Council.

It aims at updating new types of dealings to maintaining rights, preserve properties and speed up settlement of development-related disputes.

The Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani chaired the weekly session at the Emiri Diwan.

Following the meeting, the Deputy Premier and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs H E Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud said the Cabinet also took measures to issue a draft law organising nurseries, following recommendations by the Council.

The meeting endorsed a draft law by the Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, forming a Shariah panel at the ministry to give opinions on topics sent by the Waqf General Department, the Zakat Fund Department and items referred to it by the minister. The panel will be affiliated to the Minister’s Office.

The Cabinet also approved a draft law by the Minister of Economy and Trade, forming a committee of authorities concerned with studying matters related to granting licences to commercial, public and similar stores in residential quarters, zones and streets and defining their functions.

It also endorsed a draft agreement on regulating the use of labourers, signed between Qatar and Cote d’Ivoire and a draft declaration on legal cooperation between the Qatari Ministry of Justice and the Attorney General’s Offfice in Brunei.

The Cabinet then  reviewed a  letter from the Minister of Development Planning and Statistics concerning ‘The general developed framework of the GCC population strategy’; a letter from the Minister of Energy and Industry, who is also chairman of the permanent committee of water resources, concerning the committee’s third and fourth quarter report of 2012 and first quarter report of 2013.

A proposal concerning Qatar’s joining the sixth annex of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships 78/73 was also discussed.

The Cabinet discussed the recent hacking of Qatari websites and was briefed on a report of the Minister of Communications and Information Technology on measures taken. The Cabinet stressed more cooperation between all government departments and agencies and the ministry in this regard. QNA
