Islamabad: Unidentified gunmen kidnapped a political leader in Quetta city, the capital of Baluchistan province southwest Pakistan yesterday. Awami National Party provincial President Arbab Abdul Zahir Kasi has been kidnapped here, Pakistan’s Geo News quoted Pakistani Police as saying. The police have taken into custody his driver, who told them that they were passing by the Patel Road, when three armed persons in a white colour car stopped them and had forcefully taken away Arbab Abdul Zahit Kasi. The driver further told that the accused had roughed him up and snatched away the key of the car and mobile phone. Police have cordoned off the area and hunting for the accused.
Nato optimistic about pact
Kabul: Nato Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen has said he is optimistic that a bilateral security agreement between Kabul and Washington will be approved during a national meeting. Rasmussen said Nato and Afghan government will also be able to sign a similar agreement once the Afghan-US security deal is finalised, according to Khaama Press.
He said that he was confident in this regard as Afghans know that such agreements are a prerequisite for the deployment the Nato trainers. The US Secretary of Defence Chuck Hagel has also said that it was critical that the bilateral security agreement get support from the Afghan consultative body.
This comes as presidential spokesman, Aimal Faizi said that Afghan and US officials have not reached to an agreement on a number of terms of bilateral security deal. Agencies
