DOHA: Leading Qatari music professionals are participating in the World Music Expo (Womex 13) in Cardiff, Wales.
The five-day expo, which opened yesterday, is an international networking platform for the world music industry.
This year, as part of Qatar UK 2013 Year of Culture, the British Council brought Qatari delegates to join Mena delegates.
The Qatari delegates are Jamal Al Jaber, Director of Festivals Souq Waqif, and Issa Boulos, Head of Arab Music Department, Qatar Music Academy. Qatar’s participation is just one example of cultural exchanges happening throughout the year across Qatar and the UK.
Womex 13 will include a showcase festival, attended by some of the world’s best emerging and established artists and featuring performances by artists from the UK and Ireland, a conference filmmakers showcasing their work at the IMZ Film Screenings.
