DOHA: In line with its efforts to preserve Qatari heritage, the Cultural Village Foundation-Katara has launched this year’s “The Revival of Qatar’s Musical Heritage and Qatari Folk Singing Program.”
The programme includes traditional shows held every Thursday and Friday until April 28 from 6pm until 10pm at Katara Esplanade.
Last weekend, a diverse audience enjoyed stunning traditional performances by Qatari bands playing authentic local music.
Training sessions, competitions, exhibitions, documentary research, publications, lectures and seminars, supporting cultural relations, locally and internationally are being organized on the sidelines of the event.
Last Thursday, a number of workshops were held in collaboration with Katara Art Studios including Engraving henna on wood and canvas by the Qatari Artist Aisha Al-Mohannadi.
The Paper Pulp workshop, which runs until October 28, attracted a big number of children. Live painting demonstrations in Katara›s alleys will continue to amuse Katara visitors every Thursday, Friday and Saturday throughout this month.
