Doha: Aster Medical Centre has announced the launch of Aster Diabetic Club, a unique platform that aims to bring together people with diabetes and provide them with special care. The inauguration of the club marked the conclusion of the week-long Aster Diabetes Expo 2012 initiative. The initiative was organised in conjunction with the World Diabetes Day, celebrated globally on November 14 every year.
The Aster Diabetes Expo 2012 helped raise awareness on the rising levels of diabetes and its harmful effects among people. The Expo received an overwhelming response, with over 3500 people from across the country participating in the several initiatives conducted as part of it. About 450 members have been registered for the free diabetes club.
Theclub was formally inaugurated by Shashikumar, First Secretary at the Indian Embassy. Senior officials from DM HealthCare including Dr Sameer Moopan, Managing Director, Dr Nazar Moopan, Medical Director and Abdul Rehman, Director, attended the event. Kareem Abdulla, President of ICBF (Indian Community Benevolent Forum) and all the members of the Diabetes Club with their families were present at the event.
