Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani sent a cable of condolences to Russian President Vladimir Putin mourning the victims of a passenger plane that crashed on landing at the airport in the city of Kazan in the Republic of Tatarstan in Russia.  The Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani sent a similar cable to the President of Russia on the same occasion yesterday.

Speaker to take part in GCC Shura Councils’ meeting

Doha: The Advisory Council’s Speaker H E Mohamed bin Mubarak Al Khulaifi and his delegation left Doha for Kuwait yesterday to participate in the 7th GCC Shura Councils and Parliaments’ meeting in Kuwait today and tomorrow.
The participants will discuss topics tabled on the agenda, most importantly the annual report  of the Chair of 6th GCC Shura Councils and Parliaments’ meeting in addition to a briefing on the progress of the GCC joint action 2013, prepared by the GCC General Secretariat and a study by the Bahraini Parliament on parliamentary experience of the European Union and similar organisations.
They will also discuss the planned visit by a delegation representing the GCC legislative assemblies to the US Congress and activating the terms of reference of the regular meeting and the Coordination Committee and the Parliamentary Foreign Relations in addition to the proposed GCC common topics and the coordination of the media policy of the State Legislatures and cementing relations with human rights organisations.
