DOHA: In order to meet the increasing demand, Al Wakra Hospital (AWH) has introduced new evening clinics for patients seeking services in Urology and Ultrasound.
The new evening Urology clinics will be open from 3 pm to 7 pm from Sunday through Wednesday, in addition to the day clinics which already operate from 7 am to 3 pm on weekdays.
The clinics provide specialised medical assessment and management of all adult male urological problems and offer a number of therapeutic procedures. Between two to three clinics, staffed by a consultant and specialists in various fields of urology, will be running daily.
The hospital’s Ultrasound clinic for Obstetrics and Gynaecology is now open every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 3 pm to 7 pm.
Also a new MRI session will now run every Wednesday from 3 pm to 9 pm, starting in December. This is in addition to the MRI sessions which currently run from Sunday to Tuesday from 3 pm to 9 pm.
Head of the Urology Department at AWH, Dr Ahmed Shamsodini said, “In order to address the growing numbers of patients who are seeking our services, we are delighted to announce the extended hours of operation through the evening clinics. This is part of our endeavor to offer high-quality urological management to an even greater number of patients as many of them are unable to visit the morning and afternoon clinics due to work commitments.”
The Urology Outpatient Department (OPD) was established in AWH in April 2012. Figures current to September 2014 show that, since its opening, a total of 11,259 patients have received medical assistance at the OPD clinics. From January to September this year, some 2,561 various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures have been performed in the clinics.
Emergency services for urgent care are offered at anytime, including after clinic hours on weekends and holidays at the Emergency Department in the hospital.
