Birla Public School marked its 15th Founders’ Day’ yesterday at the school premises to honour students and staff for their service for a decade.

The school celebrated 15 years of glorious service with an awarding ceremony which was followed by showcasing the talents of Kindergarten and Primary School students.

The Chief Guest of first day of two-day celebrations was Dr. Khalid bin Mubarak Al-Shafi, Editor-in-Chief of The Peninsula. The Guest of Honour was Rajesh Kamble, Counsellor, Consular & Community Affairs, Embassy of India in Qatar.

The event was graced by Lukose K Chacko, Chairman of the School and Board of Directors. The gathering was welcomed by junior head girl Pooja Santhosh, a student of grade 5B, and junior head boy Pranav Varrier, a student of grade 5A.

The school symbolically handed over the FIFA World Cup replica from Russia to the State of Qatar during the event. The Annual Report, read by Principal A P Sharma, brought to fore the scholastic and co-scholastic achievements of the students of the school. The remarkable accomplishments, like inauguration of Atal Tinkering Lab in the Gulf region, hosting the second edition of TEDx, improvising sports facilities, attaining license to host different competitive exams, schools participation in various community programmes were presented to the audience.

On the occasion, the students and staff with perfect attendance for five consecutive years and the teaching and non-teaching staff who have been rendering their service for a decade were honoured by conferring medals and certificates. Six students were honoured for five years of perfect attendance which included; Varun Sanmugalingam, Geetarjun Mannem, Gabriela Miriam John, Abhay Thomas Philip, Johanan Manoj Abraham and Irene Ann Thomas.

As many as 32 staff members were awarded for their 10 years of dedicated service, which included; Anu Thomas, Thomas John, Vinu Susan George, Shiju Puliallumpurathu Raghavankutty, Krishnamoorthy Somasundaram, Salma Ishaque Vohra, Shaji Mathew, Bency Thankachan Verghese, Veena Chandrakant Pawar, Shreevidya Pramod Nair, Rathi Karthikeyan, Sandeep Kumar Shukla, Nalini Shukla, Gollapalli Naga Kalpana, Elizabeth Thomas Jijo Thomas, Girija Kayakkaparambil Sreenivasan, Anitha Muthunatarajan, Leena Panakkal Sebastian Jerome, Sheri Varghese, Shijo Pullen Johny, Jai Laxmi, Sivakumar Parameswaran, Giassuddin Bhuiyan ,Rinusha Harshad, Kanagarajan Suntharam, Janeesh Nadu Veettil Peter, Yamnath Bhandari , Puspa Subedi , Shyam Babu Khan Chaudhari, Shyam Regmi, Maricel Pabatang and Susie Lucero Feliciano.

Eight staff members were awarded for their five years of perfect attendance which included; Ciga Zoya Rani, Leena Dinesh, Sunitha G Nair, Preethi Aravind, Manju Kurian, Victor Anto S, Jolly Jacob and Neena Agnes Lazar.
