Doha, Qatar: Faris Saad Al-Qahtani delivered the most electrifying moment of Saturday night, seizing the Diamond Tour title at 150 cm with a blistering 45-second performance aboard Com du Rouet Z.
As the seventh round of the Longines Hathab – Qatar Equestrian Tour drew to a close at the Longines Arena in Al Shaqab, the evening had already been energised by strong showings across the earlier classes.
Qatar’s Ambassador to Afghanistan H E Mirdif Ali Mirdif Al Qashouti with the Future Riders 90cm class podium winners Mohammed Al Sulaitin (gold), Salman Faisal Al Marri (silver) and Khalifa bin Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani (bronze).
The evening began with intensity with the Future Riders 90-cm round showcasing rising talent. Mohammed Al Sulaiti claimed victory with 28.13 seconds on Mazzeltof, edging out Salman Faisal Al Marri on Sandor and Khalifa bin Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani on Zion II Vdk.
Qatar’s Ambassador to Afghanistan H E Mirdif Ali Mirdif Al Qashouti honoured the young winners.
In the Bronze Tour at 120 cm, where Khalid Al-Hadi swept the podium, taking first, second, and third with times of 54.79, 56.07, and 57.89 seconds.
In the team event, The Dome topped the standings in 110.76 seconds, followed by Ajwad and Shahalil Al Shaqab.
Awards were presented by Saeed Hamad Al-Rashidi, Deputy Director of the Tournament.
Director of Equestrian Education at Al Shaqab Mohammed Jaber Al-Khayarin presented the awards to the Diamond Tour medal winners Faris Saad Al Qahtani (gold), Khalid Mohammed Al Emadi (silver) and Hamad Nasser Al Qadi (bronze).
As the round concluded and the arena lights intensified, all eyes shifted to the finale - the Diamond Tour.
Al-Qahtani’s winning ride was followed by Khalid Mohammed Al-Emadi and Thor Ter Wilgen Z in 45.96 seconds, with Hamad Nasser Al-Qadi taking third on Edison Z in 47.46 seconds. Mohammed Jaber Al-Khayarin, Director of Equestrian Education at Al Shaqab, presented the awards.
Tournament director Abdullah Al-Marri highlighted the momentum building within the championship:
