Doha, Qatar: As part of its humanitarian and development interventions in Afghanistan, and with funding from Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has launched an agriculture support project to improve the living standards of families affected by natural disasters.
The project is implemented in partnership with the Afghan Welfare Society and in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock; local authorities; and target communities. Under the $423,883 project, agricultural supply kits will be distributed to 2,000 families in four districts of Logar Province (500 families each).
Each family is receiving 50 kg of improved wheat seeds, 50kg of urea fertilizers, and 50kg of phosphate fertilizers. Also, the project involves agricultural extension and farmer education programs for the beneficiaries on the best pest control practices and wheat crop management.
