Jakarta: At least twenty-four people were killed and 16 others were seriously injured after a bus carrying 40 passengers fell into a ravine in south Sumatra province in Indonesia.
The accident occurred just before midnight on Monday in Perahu Dipo village of Pagaralam district, reported the Indonesian news agency (Antara).
"The latest information we got is that 24 people are dead with the rest suffering serious injuries," said Nopriyaddin, the Head of the Data and Information Center of the provincial Disaster Management Agency.
All the victims have been rushed to the hospital, the official said, adding that the number of the dead could rise as many of the passengers are seriously injured. (QNA)
