Doha: A total of 400 employees, including healthcare practitioners and administrative personnel at Al Emadi Hospital, took vaccination against seasonal flu.
The campaign was organised by The Infection Control Department for the first time this year and the hospital plans to hold it on an annual basis.
Dr Mohamed Al Emadi, Chairman and General Manager of the hospital, said the programme is part of the hospital’s commitment to health promotion and disease prevention to ensure a safe environment for all staff, patients, visitors and the community.
According to the Centres for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention, over 31 seasons between 1976 and 2007, flu-associated deaths in the US were about 3,000 to 49,000. During a regular flu season, about 90 percent of deaths occur among people aged 65 and above.
CDC and the Supreme Council of Health recommend vaccination for everyone aged six months and above. The Peninsula
