Kuwait: Qatar handball team qualified for the semi-finals of the ongoing 22nd Asian Men's Handball Championship in Kuwait, after beating their UAE counterparts 25-20 today in their final main-round match, With this victory, they guarantee participation in the 2027 World Championship to be held in Germany.
The Qatari team secured a qualification ticket for the World Handball Championship for the eleventh time in their history, and they also aspire to maintain the continental title they won in the last six editions.
Qatar began the journey in the Asian Championship by defeating Oman 27-15 in the first round of Group A, but lost in the second round to South Korea 32-30, thus finishing the group stage in second place and qualifying for the main round.
The Qatari team maintained their chances of qualifying for the semifinals as they began their main round campaign with a 32-25 win against Saudi Arabia, followed by a 28-31 loss to Bahrain in the second round.
