Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, represented by the Department of Da‘wah and Religious Guidance, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, has announced the opening of registration for the 62nd edition of the Annual School Quran Memorisation Competition.

The registration will be conducted electronically to facilitate the process for all participants, through the dedicated competition portal on the Ministry’s official website. The registration period will run from today (January 25, 2026), until Thursday, February 5, 2026, during which parents can register their children directly via the competition link to ensure no eligible student misses the opportunity. The official examinations and judging process are scheduled to begin on April 12, 2026.

The competition is considered one of the oldest and most prestigious Quranic competitions in Qatar, with a rich legacy dating back to 1961. For more than six decades, it has served as a distinguished educational and faith-based platform that brings generations together around the Holy Quran and promotes its values within the school community.

The competition comes as part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to serve the Holy Quran and promote its sciences. It aims to strengthen the connection of students with the Quran through recitation, memorisation, and reflection, making it a guiding light in their daily lives.

It also seeks to discover and nurture promising Quranic talents in schools by identifying gifted students, supporting their abilities, and guiding them toward excellence while refining their skills. In addition, the initiative plays an important role in reinforcing Islamic values and deepening national identity among young people through a strong attachment to the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him).

The competition targets male and female students across all educational stages, including kindergarten, primary, preparatory, and secondary levels, in government, private, and international schools.

In a statement marking the announcement, Jassim bin Abdullah Al Ali, Director of the Department of Da‘wah and Religious Guidance, affirmed that the school competition continues to witness notable development each year, particularly through the integration of modern technologies in judging and evaluation committees to ensure accuracy, transparency, and efficiency.

He noted that the Ministry has allocated valuable financial prizes and certificates of appreciation for all successful participants, emphasising that the primary objective is to motivate students to continue their blessed journey with the Holy Quran and to progress steadily in its memorisation.
