DOHA: HE Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani on Wednesday chaired the cabinet's regular meeting at its Emiri Diwan premises.
During the session, the cabinet reviewed topics on the agenda, taking a set of decisions and measures.
The cabinet approved a draft law on DNA that specifies samples on which DNA tests are carried out. The bill also addresses keeping DNA data, the confidentiality of such data, prohibiting their use except in purposes stipulated in the law, and considering DNA tests and data kept in DNA database to be authoritative in evidence unless proven otherwise.
The cabinet ratified a draft decree on setting a date for the election of Central Municipal Council members.
It also endorsed a draft executive regulation for Law No. 16 of 2013 on chemical weapons. The draft includes provisions related to tasks of National Committee on Arms Embargo, inspection work, licenses and procedures on their issuance as well as their validity and renewal, and the commitments of licensed facilities.
Additionally, the session ratified the draft executive regulation of Law No. 6 of 2012 on tourism regulation. The bill touches on provisions regulating hotel and tourism establishments as well as license requests, its issuance, renewal and ceasing to issue it. The draft also addresses relinquishing, transferring and canceling the license, commitments of the licensee, fees and wages for services provided by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), the classification of hotel and tourism facilities into ranks, the licenses of tourism guides, inspection measures, and procedures to appeal QTA decisions. The cabinet ratified a draft Emiri decision amending some provisions of Emiri Decision No. 35 of 2014 on the regulation of Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation.
It endorsed a draft cabinet decision amending the regulation of some administrative units that constitute the Ministry of Energy and Industry and specified their powers. It also endorsed a draft cabinet decision amending the regulation of some administrative units that make up the Ministry of Environment and assigned their powers.
Moreover, the cabinet approved its draft decision, amending the regulation of some administrative units that make up Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation and set their powers.
In addition, the cabinet's session ratified a draft decision by the minister of development planning and statistics to establish departments at the administrative units that make up the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics and specify their powers.
Finally, the cabinet reviewed and took the necessary decisions about a draft law amending some provisions of Law No. 40 of 2004 on the guardianship of funds of minors. It also reviewed a letter by the National Committee on Arms Embargo on the 30th report of the committee's work for the period of Sept. 1 to Dec. 31, 2014.
