Doha: Aljazeera will host International Press Institute’s (IPI) World Congress in Doha from April 30 to May 3, 2016.
IPI is a network of editors, media executives and journalists, dedicated to enhancing and safeguarding press freedom, protection of freedom of opinion and expression, promotion of free flow of news and information, and improvement of the practice of journalism.
During the signing of an agreement with IPI, Aljazeera’s Acting Director-General, Dr Mostefa Souag, said: “As part of our ongoing commitment to press freedom, Aljazeera is delighted to be hosting the event alongside our colleagues at IPI.
“It’s important that the event will be held in the Middle East as it will help further the cause of press freedom and improvement of standards in the region.”
The 2015 congress will be held in Yangon, Myanmar, from March 27 to 29.
